The Australian Red Cross and Australian Law Students Association (ALSA) host the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Mooting Competition during the annual ALSA Conference.
The IHL Moot aims to raise awareness of international humanitarian law issues within the Australian university community.
The Moot helps students understand and appreciate the growing importance of international humanitarian law, its nature as a system of protection during times of armed conflict and its role as a fundamental part of international law.
The Moot simulates proceedings in the International Criminal Court and focuses on armed conflict laws, including the protected status of the symbol of the Red Cross and use of nuclear weapons. The competition is run in Study Period 2.
