As the second of three guides in the USALSA Careers series for 2021, the Clerkships Guide 2021 aims to provide students with all they need to know about the process of applying, interviewing for and eventually obtaining a clerkship in South Australia and further afield.
The Guide takes a focus on how students can be successful in the competitive process of gaining a clerkship, particularly at larger firms. The Uniform Clerkship Scheme is also explained which is a major source of clerkships in South Australia.
The USALSA Careers team have provided this resource to our students to ensure that our students have the tools to capitalise on opportunities available to them while at university.

The Careers Guide 2021 brings a unique, practical perspective to careers in law. The guide explores the following issues:
How to choose a direction for your career, including information on many careers for which a law degree is helpful
An explanation on how to practice overseas
Information on the best strategies for landing your ideal job, including information on the hiring process of firms
How to keep your mental health in check both in law school and in practice
The aim of this publication is to provide direction to students in respect of their careers and to ensure that our students have a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities that may be available to them once they graduate.

The Guide attempts to provide our students with insights from career professionals and those who have successfully leveraged networking to enhance their careers.
'Working in Legal' Series.
In this series, the USALSA Careers division interviews various industry professionals to explore their paths to success, their journeys through the legal profession and more interesting information of use to our students.

In part two, Georgie Grosset, a solicitor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions shares her insights into the world of criminal law.
Part three delves into life as a barrister with Andrew Collett AM. Andrew is particularly well-known for his substantial contribution to the Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement and his focus on human rights advocacy.
Peta Spyrou, a PhD Candidate and Director of Equality Lawyers joins us for part four of the series. Peta has done a substantial amount of work in the sphere of legal disability rights research.
